    Mel's simple step-by-step instructions give any beginner the confidence to build a beautiful square foot garden and enjoy growing food right away! I've shown my "first garden photos" to very experienced home farmers who are amazed! Thanks Mel :)

    I highly recommend this method for busy people and parents like myself. It is wonderfully easy to maintain, makes loads of produce, and looks very attractive. Two green thumbs way, way up.

    This great garden book will change your ideas about conventional gardening in rows. I have been around farming all my life and understand about soils, water, fertilizer, weed and insect control, but I have struggled with every garden.

    Weeds were a big problem and so was my soil and after two years and no return for my time and money, I gave up. Then my wife picked up this book and things changed. I now have a garden which is producing beautiful, healthy, vegetables. I have enjoyed "Square Foot Gardening" so much I have purchased 5 more books and gave them to my friends. Thanks Mel!

    Time for a new game plan. The concept of bigger yields/less weeds is very appealing. Every Spring, we are all "fired up" Then reality sets in, lose steam around mid- summer. After years of frustration with weeds, this book may very well be a great alternative to the endless weeding of row gardening.

    It was actually fun... not the dreaded garden of my husbands who
    works like a dog to keep weeds under control and then becomes discouraged
    He was surprised how much I got from such a small area.

    Composting instructions were the easiest I've ever seen
    Our compost bin DID NOT SMELL THIS YEAR due to his great advice.
    I will repeat ... Mel Bartholomew is a GENIUS!
