The Critter Cage helps keep your garden free from many insect induced viruses and diseases your crops will be strong, healthy, and fruitful. It is the next generation of gardening naturally, successfully defending against invasive insects like Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB).
Critter Cages are the organic gardener’s solution to insects, pests, and foul weather. No more chemicals - pesticides or insecticides! No more organic sprays or home remedies that don't work! Critter Cage is a barrier between your garden and harmful insects. Does it stop them all? No, but stink bugs, beetles, moths, and flying insects that lay eggs yielding cut-worms and caterpillars are history!
The Critter Cage is made using specially manufactured polyethylene thread, permeable to moisture and air with a 16% shading factor and 2-6 degrees of frost protection (depending on local conditions and humidity). The netting is UV resistant and keeps most insects away while protecting from heavy wind, hale, hard rains, and birds! It's knit and resists unraveling when cut or punctured. It can be sewn and easily repaired if it becomes damaged. Our netting will last 3-5 years with proper care.
It creates a "micro-climate" your veggies will absolutely love. You will need to hand pollinate squash, cucumbers, zucchini and other crops that require pollinators. There are some varieties of cucumbers that do not require pollination such as Diva and English Chelsea Prize cucumbers. Tomatoes, peppers, beans, greens, carrots, onions, and corn do not require pollinators and will pollinate themselves or can be pollinated with the help of wind or movement (gently shaking the plant).
Frame is made of 1/2" Schedule 40 UV resistant pipe and UV resistant fittings. Actual size is 60 1/2" x 60 1/2" x 36" and fits over a 4' x 4' garden box. Mikroclima covering is sewn to fit frame. Cover slides over top of frame and clips to the bottom. When you need access to the garden, simply lift one side up and set the tent on its opposite side. When finished, just return it back to the original position! The unit is very light weight only a few pounds. Can be staked if high winds are expected.
