Game # 9

Let’s see if you remember some of the important rules of Square Foot Gardening. Check out the ten basics on the “How To” page then return here to continue.

Keep in mind that a Square Foot Garden requires only 1/5 or 20% of the garden space as a traditional single row garden to grow the same amount of harvest.  Do you agree with this statement ?

If a garden is going to be successful, it must have good soil to start with. How about this statement ?

Improving backyard soils in a traditional single row garden is a lot of work and very expensive.  If you don’t think so, ask your parents if you can dig up a large garden area to see how hard it is.

BUT WAIT !

Before you start digging, consider this:

A Square Foot Garden can be started with a perfect soil mix and requires less work – all in only 1/5 of the space.

If you had your choice, which type of garden would you want to maintain ?

What tools would you need for a big garden ?

Once your Square Foot Garden is built, what tools will you need ?

If you were a plant – which type of garden do you think you would like to grow in ?

Now you can check with your parents to see how well they could do on these questions
