- Watch the 3-minute SFG trailer and the 10 min Introduction to SFG Video
- Fill out the accompanying study guide – open book quiz
- Take pictures of your completed Square Foot Garden ; demonstrating an understanding and implementation of the SFG method, following the ten basics
- Submit a video of yourself in a short teaching situation, no more than 10 minutes of any aspect of SFG you choose. This does not need to be in front of a formal class and can be a casual video teaching just a few family members or neighbors right in your own home or garden.
Send a copy of the completed study guide, pictures of your garden, and a short 10 minute video of you teaching SFG material to:

After receipt of your materials, an evaluation will be made of your knowledge of SFG as well as your ability to implement it as well as present it to others. If there are any adjustments or suggestions to be made before you receive certification, you will be notified.
Upon successful completion of all the above steps, you will receive an official certificate from the SFG Foundation indicating that you have achieved the status of SFG Certified and officially endorsed by the SFG Foundation .
As you become certified, not only will you become more knowledgeable and able to create your own spectacular Square Foot Garden , but you will also have the opportunity to officially teach in your community and elsewhere. You can collect class fees as well as have your speaking and teaching engagements listed on our website. If desired, you could also be forwarded teaching opportunities we receive for your area. You will also be able to take SFG and use it in connection with humanitarian projects throughout the world.
System Requirements for Teacher Certification Course:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 (SP3), Microsoft Windows XP, or a later operating system
- 133 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor; Pentium III recommended
- 64 MB of RAM (128 MB recommended) for the operating system, plus an additional 8 MB of RAM for each program running simultaneously
- 245 MB of available hard-disk space with 115 MB on the hard disk where the operating system is installed
- Super VGA (800 x 600) or a higher-resolution monitor with 256 colours
- DVD-ROM drive
- Microsoft mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse, or a compatible pointing device.
