Refreshing Mel's Mix for the second year? 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
This is my second year with SFG. I had a good year last summer (I live in Florida so winter s non-existant) I am getting ready to plant again. I added some peat moss and vermiculite mix to freshen the soil up. Is there anything else that I should do? Manure tea, etc?

This is my second year with SFG, last year was very good. I added a mix of vermiculite and peat moss to freshen the mix. Is there anything else I need to do that would help? Like manure tea? I live in Florida so winter is non-existent.

Thanks, Mark

More important than adding the peat and vermiculite is to add compost to your sfg this replaces some of the nutrients used by your plants last year. Also remember to rotate your crops so that they are not trying to use the same nutrients in the same place that might be depleted from the last crop.
